About me

I am Ibe van Oort (25 years old) and I come from Nistelrode, a village in North Brabant, the Netherlands. I've been cutting cabochons as a hobby for several years now, but I don't collect them myself. And so it is very nice to be able to sell them so that other people can also enjoy them. That is the idea of ​​this webshop, and all stones for sale on www.cabochononline.nl have been cut by me.
During the week you can find me for three days in the Oertijdmuseum in Boxtel, where I help in the lab with the preparation of all kinds of different fossils. In my spare time I collect fossils, minerals and shells. You can also find me a lot on the Maashorst. A nature reserve which is located just behind the village. I do a lot of photography of mainly birds and insects, but also other animal species that I encounter.

I also have a webshop www.mineralenenfossielenkopen.nl where I offer raw minerals and fossils for sale.

Rough stones

A small part of the rough stones is collected by myself. A large part of the red jasper and fossil coral are a good example of this. I get my rough stones from a German wholesaler and sometimes also from fairs and online shops. The Australian opal, I order directly from Australia. Not all stones can be ordered easily and some types will be in limited stock.

Favorite type of rock?

Which stone I prefer to cut? This is the Australian opal after all, simply because it is the most challenging stone. But to be honest, I just like experimenting with all kinds of rock. This is also the reason why there are so many unusual stones on my site. Not many people will bother to cut certain rocks such as granite and limestone. But I have found that these ordinary stones are certainly worth cutting in to.

Webshop

This webshop is not yet a company, as the proceeds are not enough. This means that no VAT is charged. But also that I cannot use certain payment methods. This is why only PayPal is available via the webshop, if you prefer to transfer the amount, this is also possible. But for this you have to send me an email via the email address at the bottom of this page.

My Tools

I cut all cabochons on my pixie from Diamond Pacific, an American brand that produces various cabochon machines. For the photos of this webshop I use a Canon 90D body and a Laoa 100 millimeter macro lens. I photograph everything in RAW and convert it to a JPG file afterwards to be able to display the best quality photos.
