Chalcedony - Hungary
Chalcedony is a variant of the mineral quartz. Unlike Quartz, Chalcedony forms bothhydral crystals that are interwoven in a beautiful pattern. The color of the mineral is extremely variable, but it usually has a blue tint. These Chalcedony specimens come from the wild mountains of Hungary in south/eastern Europe. The top crystal layer in these specimens appears to be transparent, creating a beautiful 3D effect. There is also a certain sparkle on the crystals which becomes clearly visible when you shine a light on them. The color is variable, but these pieces are basically purple-blue.
