Calcite - Belgium

The mineral Calcite is a calcium carbonate that is often formed in limestone. It is one of the most common minerals in the world and can have many different crystal forms. These specimens come from the classic location of Calcaire de la Sambre in Landelies, Belgium. A large quarry that can be found near the French border. You can still search here from time to time, and the variety of Calcites is enormous. Most specimens have an orange/yellow color just like these specimens. Unfortunately, these are not complete crystals but parts of crystals that have broken off but have no further damage.
